Bad Bunny has officially released a surprise 10-track album, titled Las Que No Iban A Salir, or The Ones That Were Not Coming Out. A number of reggaeton icons are featured on the album, including Don Omar, Yandel, Zion & Lennox, and Nicky Jam. The hit-writer-turned-solo-star Jhay Cortez also contributes to the “Como Se Siente” remix.
Las Que No Iban a Salir follows Bad Bunny’s first 2020 album, YHLQMDLG, which dropped in February and made history debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, scoring the highest charting all-Spanish-language album ever.
Bad Bunny’s latest project truly came as a surprise as he provided little to no warning. However, he notably previewed some of the new tracks on Instagram Live during quarantine, sipping from a red solo cup, cracking jokes, playing some of his own tracks, and dancing around with his girlfriend.
The timing of Bunny’s latest release was all the more surprising considering that his last full-length, YHLQMDLG, is only three months old. YHLQMDLG featured some OG’s (Daddy Yankee, Yaviah) and rising talents (Sech, Myke Towers) alike, and it was an instant hit, climbing every single chart.
Listeners have returned to the album consistently in the weeks since its release. YHLQMDLG hasn’t left the Top Ten, and its racked up nearly a billion streams in the U.S. alone. The album is said to have, “conquered old-school mediums as well as the digital world,” as it has garnered radio play, digital streams, and has gone viral on social media. “Yo Perreo Sola” and “La Dificil,” are still circulating as the most prominent hits from this album.
Las Que No Iban a Salir is in my opinion yet another instant classic. With its booming reggaeton vibes, hard-hitting hooks, and assistance from classic Latin artists this album checks all the requirements of an intoxicatingly good project.
