Over the weekend, the Star Wars Celebration 2025 kicked off in Japan with a huge panel that announced a brand-new Star Wars movie and other projects in the works. Set to debut in theaters on May 28, 2027, the untitled flick is said to be directed by Shawn Levy, and filming will begin this fall. The timeline takes place after The Rise of Skywalker and introduces brand-new characters. Ryan Gosling is also starring in it and even made a surprise appearance during the aforementioned event to speak about how much he adores the story.

Fans also saw exclusive footage from the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. The teaser featured Grogu using the Force, Mando in action, and what looked like Rotta the Hutt, possibly played by Jeremy Allen White. There were even new pictures that showed Pedro Pascal‘s role as Din Djarin without his helmet.
One of the most raved-about announcements pertained to Maul Shadow Lord, a brand-new animated series that focuses on Darth Maul. The trailer, shown exclusively at the convention, teased an enigmatic tale about Maul searching for a new apprentice. The series is set to premiere in 2027.

Andor fans got a special treat as the first episode of the second season was shown during a panel with the cast and creators. Diego Luna and Tony Gilroy were on hand to discuss what’s coming next for the rebel spy. Luna also shared a heartfelt moment honoring Alan Tudyk, who played the droid K-2SO.

The Ahsoka panel, on the other hand, revealed who’ll be reprising their roles in the show’s next season, as well as other insiders. Hayden Christensen will reprise her role as Anakin Skywalker. Meanwhile, Rory McCann will act as Baylan Skoll, who was originally played by the late Ray Stevenson. Admiral Ackbar is coming back to the Ahsoka franchise as well.

On top of that, Star Wars: Visions Season 3 now has a release date: October 29, 2025. The new season will continue fan-favorite stories like The Duel, The Village Bride, and The Ninth Jedi, along with six brand-new animated shorts.

From new films and live-action series to bold animated projects, Star Wars Celebration 2025 proved that the franchise is far from slowing down. With fresh faces, returning legends, and more stories than ever on the horizon, fans have a lot to look forward to.
