Cardi B is dismissing the rumors about her divorce from Offset.
In an Instagram Live video on Friday, September 18, Cardi confirmed reports that she intends to divorce Offset, and offered some insight as to why the two are ending their marriage. She thanked her fans for “all the love and prayers” they’ve been sending her. “However, I don’t really need it. I’m okay,” she added. “I wanted to let y’all know I have not shed not one tear.”
“Every single time that this guy has been so crazy, so f—ed up and it hits the media, I’m always crying, always sad because I don’t like that type of s—,” Cardi continued. “This time, I wasn’t crying. You want to know why? The reason for my divorce is not because of none of that s— that ever happened before. It’s not because of cheating. I’m seeing people be like, ‘Oh, he has a baby on the way.’ That’s a whole f—ing complete lie. That’s the second time people are trying to pin babies over here. No, that’s bulls—.”
I just got tired of f—ing arguing,” she admitted. “I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye. When you feel like it’s just not the same anymore, before you actually get cheated on, I’d rather just leave.”
Back in 2018, the pair had a very public falling out — and reconciliation. After previously splitting up due to Offset’s cheating, he interrupted one of Cardi’s live performances in hopes of getting her back. Many on social media had reacted unfavorably to the gesture, and Cardi later asked for an end to the online bullying, saying, “I’m not saying that I’m gonna get back together with [Offset], I just don’t like that bashing online thing.”
Months later, Cardi appeared on the January 2019 cover of Vogue, where she confirmed that the two had gotten back together. “I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” she said. “But it’s real-life sh*t.”
Now, it seems that Cardi has given things a try and it simply is not working out.
The Grammy Award winning rapper also clarified that she did not file for divorce as a publicity stunt for her upcoming album. “Nothing crazy out of this world happened, sometimes people really do grow apart,” she shared. “I been with this man for four years. I have a kid with this man, I have a household with this man…sometimes you’re just tired of the arguments and the build up. You get tired sometimes and before something happens, you leave.”
Cardi B officially filed for divorce from Offset on Tuesday (Sept. 15). According to Billboard Cardi is asking the court to award her primarily legal and physical custody of their 2 year old, Kulture. Their hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4 at 10 a.m.
