When fans of the actor think of Chris Pratt the first thought that comes to mind is Andy Dwyer, the lovable goofball Pratt played on the beloved series Parks and Recreation for 11 years. He began playing that role in 2009 and it would end up serving as a springboard for a very successful career with 64 acting credits to date, per his IMDB page. This includes starring in multiple film franchises such as Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy, with both franchises in the midst of producing their third installment and Pratt being at the apex of his career. The actor’s talents are clearly in high demand, and for good reason given the success both of these franchises have seen; now his talents are being enlisted by Amazon to star in The Tomorrow War.
The Tomorrow War is set to be a sci-fi action film in a vein akin to that of Independence Day or War of the Worlds. The film’s synopsis reads: “Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight.” While you could argue Pratt has experience in both of these genres of film, his movies are usually much more lighthearted affairs so to see him take on a more dramatic role should be an interesting treat for fans and moviegoers alike. Pratt will be joined by Yvonne Strahovski of The Handmaid’s Tale fame and industry veteran J.K. Simmons, and the film will be directed by Chris McKay.
Pratt has certainly been busy during quarantine, with The Tomorrow War being just one of four films the actor is currently involved in. This should keep fans of the actor busy over the next few years, but happily so as Pratt serves as the leading man in all of these movies. The Tomorrow War should certainly be a good way to kick it off as well given the caliber of his supporting cast with The Handmaid’s Tale being incredibly popular at the moment and Simmons boasting over 200 acting credits thus far in his career. Fans can look forward to the release of The Tomorrow War on Amazon Prime on July 2nd, 2021.
