DC Studios’ Clayface is expected to have a strong opening weekend at the box office. However, it’s going against A24’s documentary You Can See Everything, which performed well during its first weekend.
Directed by James Watkins, the horror movie was made on a $44 million budget. It stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, an actor who turns to a scientist for help after his face becomes disfigured. The aforementioned scientist is played by Naomi Ackie. Clayface is the third movie in the planned DC Universe lineup led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Warner Bros. expects Clayface to earn between $25 million and $30 million in North America during its opening weekend, along with another $20 million to $25 million internationally.

Critics have also given Clayface better reviews than Supergirl. The horror movie has a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to 52% for Supergirl.
Superman had a strong start last year, but Supergirl didn’t do too well at the box office this summer. Made with a $170 million budget, Supergirl earned $37.1 million domestically during its opening weekend and finished with $126 million worldwide. Meanwhile, Clayface had a much smaller budget.
On the other hand, You Can See Everything is expanding to 2,600 North American theaters after opening in 855 locations. Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the documentary follows Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes before she begins serving her prison sentence. The documentary surprised movie fans by earning $15 million during its opening weekend, right after Street Fighter. It is expected to make at least $18 million this weekend.
Other movies arriving in theaters include Wildwood, a stop-motion animated film from Laika directed by Travis Knight. The movie is opening in 2,926 North American theaters and currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Klara and the Sun, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams, is also making its theatrical debut. Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie is among the latest releases arriving this weekend.
