Scoop of the Day
While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, Courteney Cox expressed her happiness and excitement about the upcoming Scream 7 project, though it’s unclear if she will be returning.
Film’s Casting Return ✨
As you may know, Sidney Prescott will also be making her return to the big screen after sitting out of last year’s Scream 6. This upcoming installment marks her seventh appearance as Gale Weathers.
In March, numerous rumors circulated about Cox making her official return to the screen. However, these were just speculations, and nothing has been confirmed yet. Looking ahead, Scream 7 will be launched with Kevin Williamson as its creative director, as he played a crucial role in kickstarting the franchise by writing the original Wes Craven film.

Variety reported that Cox mentioned, “I’m not officially signed on. I am not, but there will be a Scream 7”. While this has yet to be confirmed as either true or false, she also noted, “They’re rewriting all the time. It’s not like I don’t know what’s going on,” indicating that the topic of the film’s progression is still open for negotiation.
Cox elaborated on her excitement about working with Williamson, saying, “You can’t get better than that choice. It’s going to be fun”. Meanwhile, the movie is currently in development and has been progressing smoothly.
Who will be officially coming to the sequel?
After the official confirmation of the sequel, it brought in a new creative team, casting several members back in 2022. However, as you may know, Spyglass fired Melissa Barrera due to an insensitive post that didn’t align with the franchise’s values. Subsequently, the director was changed to Christopher Orlando, which led to some cast members deciding not to return, including Jenna Ortega.
Campbell and Williamson are both set to return, and the team behind Scream 7 is pleased that the film has been saved. Cox’s return has added an extra boost, making the film’s debut even more promising.
