Courteney Cox is set to reprise her role as Gale Weathers in Scream 7. According to Variety, the actress will return to the Scream franchise with her previous cast mates Neve Campbell who portrays Sidney Prescott, and Mason Gooding who will reenact his character Chad Meek Martin. The horror film also carries new cast members like Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and more. Scream 7 is set to appear on the big screen on February 27, 2026.
In the past, the movie was shelved for numerous reasons due to production delays, creative overhauls, and cast shakeups. Actress Melissa Barrera who acted in Scream 6 was axed from the Scream series due to making Instagram Stories following Hamas’ attack on October 7 and the subsequent invasion of Gaza by Israel. Meanwhile, Jenna Ortega, who co-starred with Barrera, decided not to take part in the seventh film due to her shooting schedule for Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday.
Scream 7 will explore Sidney Prescott’s life, similar to Jamie Lee Curtis’ character in the 2018 Halloween film. James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein serve as producers of the classic movie. Radio Silence, on the other hand, takes on the executive producer role. The script is written by Guy Busick.
The Scream franchise is a long-running horror sequence that began with four films: Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), and Scream 4 (2011), all directed by the late Wes Craven.
The series was revamped with the fifth installment, Scream (2022). The most recent film, Scream VI, was released worldwide in March 2023 and has set a new franchise record for the highest domestic box office gross, surpassing the original Scream with over $108 million. It has earned more than $169 million globally. Overrall, the Scream series has grossed over $900 million at the worldwide box office.
