Since it first debuted almost fifty years ago, few Hollywood franchises have seen the success that the iconic Star Wars franchise has. Originally debuting in 1977, director George Lucas introduced moviegoers to an expansive universe unlike anything before it that vastly exceeded audiences expectations. From the very first film, Star Wars detailed the story of a young man named Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, as he navigates the most treacherous depths of the universe and attempts to save the life of Princess Leia. Commercially the movie was an absolutely massive success immediately raking in nearly $800 million in box offices worldwide with a budget of just $11 million, highlighting just how successful the franchise has been since its inception. Now a new Star Wars project is on the way for eager fans, with the official trailer for The Book of Boba Fett being unveiled this week and highlighting just what makes the franchise so special in the first place.
Since the debut of the first Star Wars film in 1977, George Lucas and company have not looked back for a second. With eleven films along with a plethora of television shows and other content released since then, the franchise has essentially taken on a life of its own that is unlike virtually anything else since its birth. The creative minds driving the franchise forward don’t appear to be slowing down however, with the official trailer for the spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett being unveiled by Disney to the pleasure of diehard fans. In it, viewers are reminded of the titular bounty hunter’s role in the Star Wars universe as he is confronted with an array of situations that necessitate his expertise and he utilizes them to the fullest extent. The new series is expected to tie in directly with the finale of season two of another Star Wars series that debuted on Disney+ in 2019 in The Mandalorian, with The Book of Boba Fett expected to hit the streaming service on December 29th.
During a time when space exploration was still in its infantile stages, Star Wars took audiences to a place that virtually everybody on earth was interested in. Albeit fictional, thee franchisee gave audiences the opportunity to explore a side of the universe that was, and for the most part still is, foreign to the vast majority of humanity, The fact that it’s still quite foreign to us is exactly why Star Wars has become as successful as it is, and now a new project is set to build upon that success further. Eager fans and Disney+ subscribers can look forward to the premiere of The Book of Boba Fett in a few short weeks on December 29th.
