Dua Lipa has joined forces with reggaeton superstars J Balvin, Bad Bunny and Tainy for a new nostalgia-filled dance track, “Un Día (One Day).” Released on Thursday, the bilingual record hones in on the longing, introspection, and heartache that follows a breakup. While exploring such tender, and compelling themes the song perfectly blends Lipa’s pop-house vocals with the Latin trio’s acclaimed urbano flavor.
“Un Dia” captures each individual artist doing what they do best: Balvin delivers smooth yet hard-hitting lyrics, Bad Bunny offers the hyped-energy, and Lipa lends her sultry vocals to the contagious chorus. Though the song is a narrative about the crippling emotions of longing and nostalgia, it instantly transports you somewhere warm, and familiar therefore classifying it as an instant summer banger.
The song is accompanied by a black-and-white music video, directed by Stillz, that features Spanish actress Úrsula Corberóv (also known as Tokio on Netflix’s hit show Money Heist) as a woman in distress over a lost love and her journey to self fulfillment, and happiness.
“One day you’ll love me again / one day you’ll love me for sure / One day you’ll wake up feelin’ how I’ve been feelin’ / Baby, you’ll knock at my door,” Lipa croons. “One day you’ll realize I’m more than your lover / I’m more than your lover, I’m your friend.”
All four artists have been dominating the charts with their music, and this new track is simply the icing on the cake. Lipa dropped her album Future Nostalgia in March, Bad Bunny released his LP YHLQMDLG, as well as the surprise EP Las Que No Iban a Salir, and Balvin dropped his audiovisual album Colores in March. However, what sets this tune apart is the manner in which it fuses genres, languages, and musical styles in a seamless, and soothing fashion. Featuring executive production by NEON16’s Tainy and Lex Borrero, this is a guaranteed bop!
