Felicity Jones won’t be coming back to Andor for their next season. The actress, who plays Galen Erso’s daughter Jyn, made the announcement on BBC One’s The One, saying, “I’m afraid to say I won’t be, but I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback. But no, sadly, I won’t be.”
In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Jyn Erso helps Cassian Andor steal the Death Star plans. But, unfortunately, the two pass away at the end of the film. Their sudden death opens up the plot for Star Wars: A New Hope, and the destruction of the intergalactic WMD. Despite being tied to Andor, it’ll be severed with the new episodes to come.
Though it’s safe to say that fans will be sad about Jyn Erso’s departure, Jones doesn’t mind not returning to Andor.
“I actually wouldn’t want to repeat any of [my characters],” she said. “It’s so funny — once you’ve sort of done it and you’ve kind of put them to bed, then you’re ready for the next challenge.”
Andor stars the original casts from other Star Wars installments Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, and Alan Tudyk as Cassian’s droid helper K-2SO. There are also new characters: Denise Gough, Stellan Skarsgård, Kyle Soller, and Adria Arjona.
