Questions about time and space only become increasingly of interest as science and technology continue to evolve. Additionally, our understanding of them continues to change as society evolves to adapt to these advancements. Hollywood subsequently has taken these topics into their own hands, for both the entertainment of viewers and to explore the philosophical implications they have. Now we have the first images for Needle in a Timestack, a film that couples the concepts of time and space with an intriguingly romantic twist.
While none of these tropes are new, Needle in a Timestack brings them together in a very interesting way. The film follows a couple, played by Leslie Odom Jr. and Cynthia Erivo, enjoying their life as a married couple before Erivo’s fictional ex-husband, played by Orlando Bloom, decides to interfere. To do so, he warps time and haunts them with memories of their past in hopes of splitting the couple up and getting Erivo back for himself. The film is also an adaptation of a novel by Robert Silverberg that will be directed by John Ridley, who recently won the Oscar for Best Screenplay for his adaptation of the 2013 film 12 Years a Slave. Needle in a Timestack is set to hit theaters and digital on October 15th, and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 19th.
First announced back in 2017, Needle in a Timestack has been a long time coming. Hampered by production delays that only worsened when COVID-19 hit, the upcoming film has had plenty of time to marinate to this point. Now it will finally see the light of day, and interested parties can look forward to the release of Needle in a Timestack in a few short weeks
