Mark your calendars. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is set to hit theaters on December 5, 2025, as per ComingSoon. Production for the highly anticipated film starts this summer, and Josh Hutcherson will reportedly reprise his role as security guard Mike Schmidt.
“We hoped it would connect with audiences, but I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to connect the way it did, Hutcherson told Variety about the sequel. “I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”
The first Five Nights at Freddy’s was about a struggling security guard who decides to work at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza to earn more cash. During his first night on the job, he discovers haunted mascot characters and realizes that working at Freddy’s is more challenging than he imagined.
Five Nights at Freddy’s was directed by Emma Tammi and is based on a screenplay she co-wrote with the game’s creators, Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. The film stars Matthew Lillard, Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Mary Stuart Masterson, Elizabeth Lail, and Kat Conner Sterling. Following its release, Five Nights at Freddy earned $297.2 million at the box office.
