Future is starting the new year strong with a new album after just releasing his seventeenth mixtape, Mixtape Pluto, in September. Hendrix announced his upcoming music with a short yet simple caption on Instagram. “NEW TAPE OTW,” he penned.
Currently, there are no other details about his future LP. However, fans suspect that Lil Baby will have some involvement with the project based on the rapper’s interview with RapCaviar’s Day In The Life series. Baby went on to say that Young Thug was the driving force for their collaboration.
“Me and Future were working on a joint tape,” Lil Baby revealed. “Now, Slime came home… you know he ain’t goin’ for that, he like’‘sh*t.’ It’s actually Thug’s idea. When he was in jail, he was like, ‘Call Pluto, I want y’all to do a tape together.'”
Future’s Mixtape Pluto was released on September 20, 2024, and serves as his seventeenth mixtape and third project of 2024, following two collaborations with Metro Boomin. The mixtape features production from Southside, Wheezy, ATL Jacob, and London on da Track, contributing to its dynamic soundscape. Standout tracks include “Too Fast” and “South of France,” which eventually got revamped into a remix featuring Travis Scott.
Mixtape Pluto debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking Future’s eleventh chart-topping album and making him the first rap artist to achieve three number-one albums in a single year.
