Netflix has been at the center of streaming services with their ability to release binge-worthy shows on a weekly basis. Ginny & Georgia has entered this collection with a new 10-episode series, which premiered February 24th.
Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) are a mother-daughter duo and the newest residents of a seemingly quiet New England town. But, this story is so much more than your typical parenting melodrama. It is a story of contemplation, race, and of course skeletons? Thats right, by the end of the first episode it is revealed that Georgia has so major skeletons in her closet!
Half of the series is dedicated to Ginny, a biracial 15 year old girl to a white mother and a Black father. Through life’s twist and turns, Ginny dives into understanding her own identity. Gentry’s breakthrough role is definitely enough to land her in the public eye, as the Netflix series continue hold the #1 spot.
Though the series holds a few similarities to the Gilmore Girls concept, it is something much darker and richer in content as it explores life in a new-age way. Ginny is the same age as Georgia when she was pregnant, so we see the the boundaries of their bond tested. We are exposed to chunks of the secret life Georgia lives, only to be revealed in pieces throughout the series. Stream Ginny & Georgia on Netflix!
