A musical based on pop superstar Gloria Estefan is headed to the big screen. On Your Feet, recently acquired by Sony Pictures, is said to explore the life of Gloria and her music producer husband, Emilio Estefan. Deadline reports that On Your Feet will include some of Gloria’s hit singles “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “Anything For You,” “Get On Your Feet,” and “If I Never Got to Tell You,” which were co-written by her daughter Emily Estefan. The On Your Feet film will be written and directed by Lissette Feliciano. Meanwhile, Gloria and Emilio Estefan are serving as the film’s producers. John Fox is the movie’s executive producer.
The On Your Feet! musical premiered in 2015 and hosted over 500 shows before it ended in 2017. Since then, it has been staged in London’s West End and across North America. It’s been one of the world’s most sought-after “jukebox musicals” since ABBA‘s Mamma Mia!
