We are mid-way through October, and that means we’re only halfway through revisiting everybody’s favorite scary classics in celebration of Halloween. As the days tick by and October 31st gets closer, some of us are getting our costumes ready while others are simply relishing in the holiday spirit and getting ready to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate, virtually everybody can find something to enjoy about the Halloween season. Even Disney fans, as the media company continues to gear up for their latest project: a remake of the 2003 film Haunted Mansion has been underway for a few months now, and Disney has been hard at work rounding out its cast and adding Danny DeVito to appear in the upcoming film.
DeVito is truly the definition of a Hollywood veteran, having worked in film and television since the beginning of the 1970’s. He is certainly no stranger to Disney either having voiced a character in the 1997 animated film Hercules as well as an appearance in the 2019 film Dumbo. Now he is getting another shot and this time on a high-profile project as Disney fans have been clamoring to find out every little detail about the upcoming remake of Haunted Mansion. Now they have one more piece to add to the puzzle: DeVito has been cast to appear in the upcoming reboot, rumored to play a “smug professor” that should see him at the center of the film’s plot. Further details about the project are still unknown, however DeVito joins a packed cast that includes Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson and Tiffany Haddish among many others.
Remakes and reboots are nothing new in this era of Hollywood, however they aren’t always successful. What typically makes them successful is how true they remain to the original story while employing an equally strong cast the second time around, and Disney seems to have the latter under control with this Haunted Mansion remake. Eager fans will simply have to wait and see as more details emerge in the coming months.
