All 2019 we’ve rebooted, recasted, recalled, reconciled and in unfortunate cases retired, removed or replaced. January is usually the month we take to review the awards given and rewatch to confirm accuracy. But this January the slate is full of films we’ve been waiting for consisting of new films and a few classic to get ready for what looks like is going to be a really promising year. Here’s a brief list of the films we’re pleased to start our 2020 with + some trailers to refresh!
1. The Grudge
The story of a young mother who murders her family in her own house. While detective investigate the home they discover the home cursed by vengeful spirit that never dies only multiplies with interaction. The R rated horror classic is making it’s return to theaters January 3rd, 2020. Producer Sam Raimi and screenplay Nicolas Pesce puts a twist on the original story Ju-On the grudge by Takashi Shimizu. Starring Andrea Riseborough, Demian Bichir, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shay and Jackie Weaver.

2. The Gentlemen
From the director of Sherlock Holmes, Guy Richie creates a R rated crime action film revolves around the big business of Marijuana. When the American expat Mickey Pearson (Mathew McConaughey) looks to cashout after building a highly profitable business. His plan is to sell the business to Oklahoma billionaires but he faces war from competitors and accomplice who want his position in the hierarchy starting a street war full of plots and schemes. All for the love of the sweet maryjane. Cast included Henry Golding, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery, Colin Ferrel, Jeremy Strong and others. The film is set to release January 24, 2020. 3. Bad Boy For Life
The classic Bad Boys comes back adding to the 1995 sequel with Old-school buddy cops Lowery and Burnett for the last installment. The film follows detectives Lowrey and Burnett through their ride together, die together motto as they handling a Romanian drug cartel in Miami who’s seeking revenge just before the duo retires. Bad Boy For Life stares Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as the detective duo, and Vanessa Hudgens as “Lethal Gun”. The movie hits theaters January 17, 2020. Get a piece of the action below
4. Like a Boss
The Beauty Business gets real in this rated R comedy starring Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne and Salma Hayek. Two besties Mia and Mel run their own cosmetic company which seems to flourishing until they realize they’re coming up short just a tad too much with the financials. When they’re offered a buy out of 1 million dollars their friendship gets tested big time as the saying goes “Friendship and Business is like oil and water – they don’t mix”. 5. Sonic The HedgehogThe popular ’90 video game furry blue hedhodge Sonic finds himself on an adventure with his newfound human friend Tom Wachowski. As they travel planet earth together they join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr.Robotnik (Jim Carey) from capturing Sonic in pursue to deplete him of his super speed powers and conquer world dominance. The live-action adventure comedy is a highly anticipated film as its original release was November 2019 but the designing character received too much backlash to move forward calling it an “abomination”. Fans are much more pleased with the revamp of Baby Sonic and are excited to see it in theaters February 14, 2020! Take a look at the trailer.
6. Dolittle
After the death of his wife, the famed Dr.John Dolittle of Queen Victoria England hides away behind the highwalls of the Dolittle manor where he befriends his beloved exotic animals as they become his only company. When the Queen becomes ill , Doctor and his furry friends embark on an adventure to find a cure. Dolittle stares Robert Downey, Michael Sheen, Antonio Banderas, Tom Holland, Selena Gomez, Marion Cotillard and John Cena. Check out the official trailer below.
