It Ends With Us has passed a major box office milestone after crossing $100 million globally in its first week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film earned the accolade on Wednesday after ending the day with a domestic tally of $68.9 million and an early sum of $46.6 million in the foreign market, totaling $115.5 million. It Ends With Us is based on Colleen Hoover‘s novel which carries the same name.
The film, which stars Ryan Reynolds‘ wife, Blake Lively, came in second place after Deadpool & Wolverine ran in theaters for its third weekend. Once Monday hit, It Ends With Us beat Deadpool & Wolverine for the No. 1 spot at the box office. Overseas, it earned $30 million from its first 42 markets for a global start of $80 million against a $25 million budget.
It Ends With Us is about a woman named Lily Bloom who overcomes a dark childhood, watching her father abuse her mother. After moving to Boston to open her own business, she meets a charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni). As the two fall deeply in love, Lily sees sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. She also becomes re-aquainted with her first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), which changes her dynamic with Ryle. Lily learns to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.
