While the name may not be wholly familiar to everybody, virtually every moviegoer is familiar with at least the face of John Malkovich. The esteemed actor has been working on Hollywood sets since the 1970’s, racking up over 130 acting credits to date. He has shown no signs of slowing down however with his latest film The Survivalist set to release in the coming weeks and his IMDb listing over a dozen new projects he is currently involved in. One of those projects currently in production is The Yellow Tie, in which Malkovich has been cast to play the revered play conductor Sergiu Celibidache.
Malkovich has played a wide variety of roles in his career, from the Russian gangster Teddy KGB in the 1998 film Rounders to a hardened survivalist in the 2018 Netflix film Birdbox. Despite how successful his career has been thus far however, he remains one of the hardest working men in Hollywood and has a number of new projects currently in the works. Among those is The Yellow Tie, a story about the life of one of Europe’s most celebrated play conductors of the 20th century by the name of Sergiu Celibidache. The conductor’s life was far from ordinary, being kicked out of his family home as a teenager before going on to become the youngest conductor in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, seemingly making him the perfect subject for a film and a role Malkovich should be able to sink his teeth into. The Yellow Tie is currently scheduled to begin shooting in Romania early next year.
To say John Malkovich has had a remarkable career would be a gross understatement. The actor has worked with the likes of Hollywood’s greatest, delivering a fantastic performance every time he is cast in the project. Thus it is no surprise that he is still being cast to star in films at this point in his career, and it doesn’t seem like he will stop looking for those roles either. Eager fans and moviegoers can expect The Yellow Tie to premiere late next year.
