Since his Hollywood career began way back when in the 1980’s, Keanu Reeves has covered considerable ground. From Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure up to the more recent John Wick trilogy, Reeves has established himself as a household name that continues to attract the attention of fans across the globe. This has been highlighted as of recently when Reeves collaborated on the release of a comic book, BRZRKR, that was released earlier this month to rave reviews. Now Reeves looks to be taking the success of his first comic book a step further by teaming up with Netflix to produce a live action movie and anime series based upon the graphic novel, announced via Twitter earlier this week.
Since its release BRZRKR has sold over 615,000 copies, a rather impressive feat for any book let alone a comic book in 2021. The graphic novel captures the story of an “immortal warrior’s 80,000 year fight through the ages” with said immortal warrior being depicted in the likeness of Reeves. Now the revered actor will be taking his involvement in the project one step further by starring in both a live action film and an anime series based upon the comic book. Reeves worked alongside Matt Kindt and Ron Garney to create the comic book, and now will continue to work alongside them as well as Netflix as they hit the ground running on both projects.
Reeves has certainly been busy, with rumors constantly swirling about the production of both Matrix 4 and John Wick 4. While most fans of the actor are simply eager for these projects to hit theaters, the actor is giving them this and much, much more to quench their thirst during quarantine. The first issue of BRZRKR did not release until March of this year and is already poised to be one of the biggest projects of 2021, only highlighting the allure of Keanu Reeves in the modern era of Hollywood. While the projects remain in the early stages of production, fans of the esteemed actor can remain on the edge of their seats in anticipation as Reeves prepares for a big 2021.
