The official trailer for Dreamworks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 4 has arrived.
“After three death-defying adventures defeating world-class villains with his unmatched courage and mad martial arts skills, Po, the Dragon Warrior, is called upon by destiny to…give it a rest already. More specifically, he’s tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace,” the logline states.
It continues: “This role, however, poses many apparent problems. First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position.”
The trailer seemingly takes inspiration from Dune 2, which arrives in theaters on March 1. Moreover, the short compilation clip of Kung Fu Panda 4 sees Po wearing a hooded cloak and walking through a desert with a bowl of dumplings. After eating some of the dumplings, it transitions to other scenes in the movie, like Po being attacked by cute yet ferocious bunnies.
Kung Fu Panda 4 is directed by Mike Mitchell and Stephanie Ma Stine. Rebecca Huntley is the film’s producer. The cast includes Jack Black, Awkwafina, Viola Davis, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Ian McShane, Ke Huy Quan, Lori Tan Chinn, Ronny Chieng, and more.
The Kung Fu Panda saga started in 2008, with the first film being nominated for an Oscar Award for Best Animated Feature. Kung Fu stars Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Hoffman, Hong, and Seth Rogen. The second and third Kung Fu films debuted in 2011 and 2016.
Kung Fu Panda 4 premieres in theaters on March 8.
