After months of speculations about Lady Gaga‘s involvement in Joker: Folie à Deux, the pop singer has confirmed that she is acting as Harley Quinn. The movie, which hits theaters on October 24th, 2024, will be directed by Todd Phillips. Joaquin Phoenix is also set to reprise his role as the Joker. Other cast members include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. The first movie went on to earn over $1 billion at the box office and ultimately became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
In an Instagram post, Lady Gaga hinted at her appearance in the new DC Comic movie. After expressing gratitude for being nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song via Top Gun: Maverick‘s theme song, “Hold My Hand, Gaga added that she’s “on set filming now.”
Part of the caption reads, “So grateful for the magic of music and cinema. Love you, my co-writer @bloodpop. I’m on set filming now big love to little monsters!”
