After being diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD and being told by a studio in the industry that her success wasn’t achievable because of being born in the wrong country, Salma Hayek has broken barriers as one of the first Latina actresses to develop a successful career in the US. Starting on a telanovella Teresa at age 23, she then made a break in Hollywood with her role in Desperado. Nominated as Best Actress for Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Screen Actor Guild Awards and Golden Globe award with the 2002 film FRIDA where she embodied the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Salma Hayek became one of four Latinas ever nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. She also received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress In a Comedy Series after starring on the popular comedy-drama Ugly Betty. The actress is now 53 years young and still as stunning as ever!
