Comedian and actor Lil Rel Howery is stepping behind the camera for the first time to direct Haunted Heist, a horror-comedy set to deliver thrills and laughs in equal measure. Known for his memorable role as Rod Williams in Get Out and his comedic turn as Marcus Parker in the Vacation Friends series, Howery’s impressive filmography also includes Uncle Drew (2018), Bird Box (2018), Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), Free Guy (2021), Good Burger 2 (2023), and Harold and the Purple Crayon (2024).
According to Deadline, Haunted Heist will mark Howery’s feature directorial debut. He’s set to star in the film alongside Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), bringing their dynamic comedic energy to the screen. The plot follows four estranged friends who reunite at a seemingly ordinary house. But one friend has a secret plan—to rob the place, hoping to enlist the group to find an antique treasure hidden within. What they don’t expect, however, is that the house is haunted. Forcing them to put aside their differences to survive the night and a series of wild encounters with a gang of ghosts.

Howery will also produce the film, joined by Josh Feldman, Sean King O’Grady, Feras Majid Shammami, and Jesse Ford, with Priscilla Ross Smith and Kendall Anlian serving as executive producers.

Priscilla Ross Smith of The Coven added, “We are always looking for something fun and fresh—the best Saturday night movie an audience could hope for. Haddish and Howery will knock this out of the park”.
With filming scheduled to kick off in January 2025, Haunted Heist, written by Carl Reid, is already creating buzz. The Coven will be launching world sales at the American Film Market. While a release date has yet to be announced, fans can expect a unique blend of horror and humor from Howery and Haddish in this anxiously anticipated debut.
