As Lil Yachty prepares to shake the room with his forthcoming album Lil Boat 3, the young star gifted us with his latest visual for “Split / Whole Time,” today.
Though we are all delighted and happy to watch and stream his latest body of work, Yachty’s staggered release brings the very important topic of mental health to the table. The Quality Control rapper has not released an album since 2018’s Nuthin 2 Prove, taking a short hiatus as he got his mental and physical health in order. Now that the rapper seems to have taken some much deserved time off, he’s ready to get back to the music, having officially announced the third and final installment in his Lil Boat series. Lil Boat 3 arrives on Friday (May 29), and “Split / Whole Time,” is here to kick things off.
The new single reveals Yachty as more aggressive and flashier than usual, serving us hard-hitting bars amongst his crew outside in a parking lot. Playboii Carti also makes a guest appearance, showing off his iced out watch and kicking back with Yachty as he sings along to the song word for word. “Used to didn’t have a hundred bands/ Now I’m outside with the gang doin’ the money dance,” he raps in front of a fleet of foreign cars.
Then, after a smooth transition, Yachty channels his traditional sing-rap style and is captured taking his people to a fun arcade area where they enjoy a bouncy trampoline park and ball pit while singing and dancing along to his punchy rhymes.
This year, he unleashed his star-studded track “Oprah’s Bank Account,” featuring Drake and DaBaby and now he is back with what can potentially be another ground-breaking project. Lil Yachty promises fans that they can expect 19 sauce filled tracks on this album.
