Last years Comic Con came with plenty surprises on slate, Mahershala Ali taking on Blade being one of them. Still excited for what’s to come, Ali shared a concept art 2 days ago on IG that gives us just a peak to what his character may look like.
The art only shows a profile view of the hero but it’s better than nothing and a total reminder of what’s to come from MCU (when all of this is over). Mahershala didn’t include an explanatory caption beyond to clashing sword emojis and MCU or it’s officials haven’t taken to any other platforms to confirm the art or reiterate Blade advertisement so we’re guessing the photo is more an appreciation of fan art and not so much an official Marvel concept. But we’ll take it! Mahershala Ali with a fresh Blade haircut, trademark shades, a cross necklace, and swords on his back.
For now, Mahershala Ali is the one name we know is attached to the coming Blade film. Our previous Blade Wesley Snipes (Blade, Blade 2) sends “Salaams” to Ali saying
“Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come.”
Kevin Feige announced the film last year in San Diego as part of MCU’s Phase 5. Marvel Studios has pushed back all films for Phase 4, so news on Phase 5 is going be a little bit of a wait.
Thanks for the Art @maxbeechcreative!
