From six and down to four, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Robertson formed the girl group; Girl’s Tyme. Changing their names to Something Fresh, Cliché, the Dolls, and to Destiny, they finally changed their name to Destiny’s Child in 1996. That same year, Mathew Knowles negotiated a record deal with Columbia Records, who signed the girls shortly after.
Outside of YouTube clips from their Star Search audition and “Killing Time”, which was included in the soundtrack to the 1997 film Men in Black, music from Girl’s Tyme has not been available to the public — until now. On Friday (Oct. 25), Mathew Knowles announced via Instagram that he will be dropping an album full of previously unreleased music from the group’s glory days as Girl’s Tyme.
