Universal Pictures announced that horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan‘s reimagined Exorcist movie will hit theaters on March 13, 2026.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Flannigan has taken a bold step, completely overhauling the original franchise’s storyline to deliver a fresh and unique take on the Exorcist franchise.
Prepare to be terrified by the combined genius of horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan, his longtime collaborative producer Trevor Macy, and Jason Blum. This Exorcist movie will undoubtedly be the product of their collective talent and will mark Flanagan’s fourth Blumhouse film. His previous Blumhouse titles, including Oculus, Hush, and Ouija: Origin of Evil, were all also produced by Macy, a testament to their successful partnership.
The Exorcist is based on the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty, which carries the same name.
Flanagan is known for his work on The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep and the new The Fall of the House of Usher.
