We first saw Millie Bobby Brown grace Hollywood in peculiar fashion as a supernatural mute, developed in a lab set deep in a remote town and packed with dark secrets. This was the setting of Netflix smash hit Stranger Things, which continues to release new episodes to adoring fans and is quite possibly the biggest Netflix original series. Brown does not hope to become a one trick pony however, partnering on a Netflix original film on the heels of her debut film Enola Holmes. The upcoming project titled Damsel will serve as an extension of Brown’s acting chops and allow her to utilize her voice unlike her role in Stranger Things.
Not only will Brown star in the upcoming film, but also executive produce alongside a star studded ensemble. She will be joined by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo of 28 Days Later and screenwriter Dan Mazeau of Wrath of the Titans, as well as producers Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum. Netflix is keeping the plot of Damsel relatively under wraps, but rumor has it the story follows a young princess who is put in a life or death situation and must figure her way out. Given her role on Stranger Things as a strong female character, the role seems more than fitting for Brown.
Since her inception into Hollywood, starting with small roles on shows like NCIS before achieving true stardom on Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has built quite a name for herself. At only 16 years of age, her acting credits are piling up, and they are impressive to say the least. Her status as a young female dominating the Hollywood circuit is also inspiring to say the least in a relatively male dominated industry. Brown has been an outspoken advocate for women’s rights, and continues to use her platform to spread this message to the fullest extent. Damsel looks to be another step in that direction, and with the success she has already had with Netflix, it is difficult to doubt her ability to captivate audiences in poignant fashion.
