The prequel Mufasa: The Lion King is set to debut as a continuation of the 2019 animated classic, a remake of the iconic 1994 film The Lion King. If you adored the original, brace yourself for this new sequel as it promises to be even more captivating than the last.

In this film, creative director-award winning (Moonlight) Barry Jenkins will delve into the original story presented by The Lion King, offering a fresh perspective on the classic tale. Telling the story of Mufasa’s childhood alongside his brother Taka, also know as the infamous Scar and the main antagonist in The Lion King.

Special Congratulations are in store for Blue! Disney has announced that Blue Ivy Carter will be joining the voice cast as the daughter of Nala and King Samba, while Beyoncé will also return to voice Nala’s mother. The king will be voiced by Donald Glover, making this casting truly incredible.

While Blue Ivy Carter joins her mother in starring as Nala, this is not her first time being the star of the show and accepting a big time screen role. Carter has collaborated with her mother on songs like “Brown Skin Girl”, which has earned her many awards including the NAACP Image Award, Grammys, and even the BET Award. She has also shared the stage touring and performing across countries and states during “The Renaissance World Tour“, making her parents proud while continuing their legacies.

The Rising of Mufasa

According to the trailer, the narrative will kick off with flashbacks, portraying a young orphaned cub, Mufasa navigating life until he encounters a kind-hearted lion named Taka, who happens to be the heir to a royal bloodline. But wait, there’s more to this tale.

Additionally, Aaron Pierre has been casted to voice the token character Mufasa in the upcoming film. Thandiwe Newton, Kelvin Harrison, and Mads Mikkelsen are also joining the cast for this new installment of the The Lion King. In addition to the these new voices, returning to the screen will be familiar faces from the 2019 original, including Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen.
