Over the many decades Hollywood has been in existence, moviegoers have been treated to a plethora of star-studded projects. From the litany of Avengers films to classic projects like the timeless work of Quentin Tarantino, there have been a myriad of big-budget projects which also feature equally robust casts. Truly great films don’t let the quality of their cast outshine the project itself however, and it looks like we may have another prime example of that on our hands. In a few short weeks moviegoers will be treated to a new star-studded project with the release of the film Amsterdam, and before the project can hit theaters it is already receiving some very positive reviews.
Set in the 1930’s, Amsterdam is set to be both a period piece as well as a comedy which centers around three friends who become the prime suspects in a murder case and are forced to contend with the ensuing chaos. The roles of those three friends, who play a doctor, a nurse and a lawyer, are set to be played by some impressive names as well with Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington enlisted to star in the new project. Amsterdam is also set to be directed by the esteemed director David O. Russell, best known for directing other beloved projects such as Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, and also features pop superstar Drake as a producer. While it will still be a few weeks until Amsterdam makes its debut, we are already hearing good things about the budding project with the film’s stars openly praising each other recently while promoting the film: Washington praised his co-stars for “their professionalism… their hankering for telling the truth and getting to the source of what all the actions are” while Robbie added that “[the chemistry] wasn’t something we really needed to work at. It was pretty easy.” It should be interesting to see exactly how their chemistry plays out when Amsterdam debuts in theaters on October 7th, and you can see the trailer for the new film below if it sounds as interesting to you as it does to us.
In the world of film, actors and actresses such as those at the helm of Amsterdam are widely regarded as the cream of the crop. This makes it no surprise when films which feature such talent receive so much hype prior to their release, however not all of them live up to that hype. It doesn’t seem like that will be the case with Amsterdam though and film fanatics can find out for themselves when the film premieres in a few short weeks.
