Back in 2014, Starz introduced subscribers and audiences around the world to a gritty new series known as Power. Overseen by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as one of the series’ executive producers, the show quickly took off and captivated audiences by drawing them into the underworld of the drug trade in New York City. After a run of six successful seasons audiences said goodbye to Power back in February of 2020, however this certainly didn’t spell the end for the series’ incredibly talented cast. Since the series reached its end several new spinoffs have emerged to keep fervent Power fans at ease, and now the trailer for the second season of Power Book II: Ghost is fresh off the presses to the pleasure of those eager fans.
Power on its own had many unique layers it employed in telling the story at the heart of the series, and now some of those layers are being envisioned as standalone series to further explore the universe of Power. In Power Book II: Ghost, the story picks up right where its predecessor left off and follows along as Tariq, played by Michael Rainey Jr., attempts to navigate the life his father left behind for him and picks up innumerable pieces in the process. The first season of Power Book II: Ghost debuted in September of last year to rave reviews, and now we have officially have the trailer for season two of the gripping series. In it you can see that Tariq is quite literally following in his father’s footsteps, even associating with some of the same people his father conducted business with, in an attempt to salvage what is left of his life and the lives of his family. The trailer also provides us with the new season’s release date, and fans can expect the second season of Power Book II: Ghost to premiere on November 21st.
For those who have already seen Power, many scenes from the trailer will be a blast from the past as you remember how several characters originally rose to prominence. Even if you haven’t seen it though, the series certainly has plenty to offer new fans as many of the same gritty plotlines are being rehashed in new and intriguing ways. It’s virtually impossible to tell how Tariq will fare in the face of adversity, but it looks like fans will only have to wait a few short weeks to find out. Tune in to Starz on November 21st to catch the debut of season two of Power Book II: Ghost.
