Oscars 2020 Ceremony is set to tribute to NBA Legend Kobe Bryant

The 2020 Oscars has ‘honoring a legend‘ in their intentions for the coming award ceremony that will be held in Los Angeles. On January 26 the world stood shocked after news reported that the Los Angeles Lakers legend died in a helicopter crash with his 13 year old daughter Gianna and seven others. In devastation and disbelief everyone, family, friends, fans has taken to the net – whether it be search engine or social media to acknowledge and remember Kobe Bryant’s legacy.

Along with Kobe Bryant being a 5-time NBA Champion, he’s also been recognized for his work in creation. Being the first athlete nominated for and winning an Oscar in 2018. Bryant’s ‘Dear Basketball‘ won Best Animated Short Film– a five minute autobiography screen-written, produced and narrated by him himself.

After retiring from his 20 year Los Angeles Lakers career he took interest in filmmaking. He spent about 10-12 years of his basketball career inspired by director Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, adopting the “Black Mamba” mentality and eventually taking on the nickname.

“The mamba can strike with 99% accuracy at maximum speed in rapid succession. That’s the kind of basketball precision I want to have”

The NBA Star once told ESPN in an interview.

In 2011 Nike fused Kobe Bryant’s Black Mamba influence and filmmaking interest in a short film that showed Director Robert Rodriguez pitching a movie concept to the L.A. Laker. The short film/ commercial stars Robert Rodriguez, Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and others as the two brainstorm an action film that highlights Bryant’s alter-ego The Black Mamba.

Recognizing Kobe at this years Oscar Award Ceremony is far beyond appropriate as Kobe’s Oscar nab was yet another mark in history- this time in the film and media industry. His “Dear Basketball” film was also congratulated with a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Post-Produced Graphic Designs done through his Granity Studios works.

Kobe Bryant’s Granity Studios missions to connect important messages to the youth, inspiring them to grow and evolve.

As far as what exactly the Oscars has planned for Kobe’s tribute remains under wraps until the show airs February 9th.
