Amazon Prime Video has given actress and screenwriter Phoebe Walkers-Bridge a co-sign for her Tomb Raider series. The news was revealed in a press statement by Amazon Games. Walkers-Bridge is set to executive produce and write the series’ screenplay. The Tomb Raider series will be based on the popular video game franchise storyline, the game’s main character, Lara Croft, and much more.
“If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she’d explode,” Walkers-Bridge said about the opportunity. “Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all,”
“With great IP, the possibilities are endless. The richness and depth of the fiction allows the Tomb Raider series from Prime Video and the video game from Amazon Games to tell separate stories about Lara Croft’s adventures,” Amazon Games’ Christoph Hartman stated.
This new venture is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. The Tomb Raider series has been in the works since January of 2023.
