Universal Pictures has dropped the official trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The movie follows everyone’s favorite character from Shrek named Puss In Boots as he goes on a new voyage. It’ll debut sometime this year in September.
The trailer sees Antonio Banderas’ animated character discovering that he’s at his final life stage. So he goes on a quest to find the titular Last Wish to get his previous lives back.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is co-directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, with Mark Swift taking on the producing role.
The Shrek series earned close to $3 billion between 2001 and 2010. The 2011 spin-off called Puss in Boots made about $555 million. It went on to recieve a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 84th Academy Awards.
The synopsis for the movie reads:
“The sequel will again follow Puss in Boots as he discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll. He has burned through eight of his nine lives, leaving him with only one life left. Puss sets out on an epic journey to find the mythical Last Wish and restore his nine lives.”
