Since the dawn of Hollywood, viewers have been treated to a myriad of different projects helmed by an equally wide berth of talented creatives who make said projects possible. From Martin Scorsese to Mark Whalberg, the list of individuals responsible for shaping the entertainment industry as we know it today is virtually endless with more names constantly being added as new projects are released. These individuals and the projects they star in have come to define the ethos of Hollywood as their work lives well beyond their initial inception and even their lives, highlighting how integral these individuals have become to popular culture. This week, the legacy of one of those individuals is being celebrated after the untimely passing of the beloved and revered actor Ray Liotta.
Liotta first appeared in Hollywood in 1980 when he appeared in the television movie Hardhat and Legs before going on to forge one of the most remarkable careers in all of entertainment. He would go on to star in films such as 1989’s Field of Dreams and 1990’s Goodfellas, cementing his place in tinseltown as one of the industry’s most respected names. It was subsequently a big blow to Hollywood when his passing was announced earlier today after Liotta was found deceased in his bed in the Dominican Republic. He was there filming his role in the new thriller Dangerous Waters before passing in his sleep as a result of natural causes, bringing an unexpected end to the career of one of Hollywood’s greatest heavyweights. Liotta was 67 at the time of his passing and is survived by his daughter Karsen Liotta, his fiancée Jacy Nittolo and his sister Linda Liotta Matthews.
It is never a good time when somebody passes away, but when it comes to someone with as much stature as Liotta it is bound to make waves. Social media has been mourning his loss since the news was announced this morning, with countless actors and filmmakers paying respects to the esteemed actor and his illustrious career. Ray Liotta will be remembered for decades to come.
