According to a report from The Jasmine Brand on November 27, Ashanti is pregnant again. As of now, details about how far along she is and the baby’s gender remain unclear. More recently, the couple celebrated the arrival of their baby boy, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes, on July 18.
Ashanti and Nelly successfully kept the arrival of their first child a secret until they were ready to share the news, and they’ve shown the same level of privacy when it comes to their marriage. In June of this year, TMZ discovered a marriage record revealing that the couple tied the knot before the start of the new year, on December 27, 2023.
Ashanti only recently revealed their engagement in April, recalling the romantic moment when Nelly proposed during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. She described it as a “beautiful, intimate moment,” emphasizing that they weren’t dressed up for the occasion. Having been lounging in bed, watching TV in casual T-shirts and boxers, she was understandably “shocked” by his choice of such a relaxed setting for the proposal.
Ashanti shared her emotional reaction, saying, “I cried. I embraced him with the biggest hug and kiss imaginable. I immediately FaceTimed everyone I know… I was a whirlwind of joy, shock, surprise, and happiness all rolled into one.”
While the marriage certificate does not indicate the city where Nelly and Ashanti exchanged their vows, it was officially recorded in St. Louis County, implying that they most likely got married in the rapper’s hometown.
The couple rekindled their romance last year after initially dating in the early 2000s and spending over a decade apart. Reflecting on their relationship, Ashanti noted, “The growth has been remarkable on both sides. We’ve reached a point where, in the past, we might argue, storm out, and not speak for days.”
