The enduring legacy of Ghostbusters continues in the latest sequel, blending elements of nostalgia, horror, and more to captivate audiences anew. Despite the passage of time since the initial release of Ghostbusters, the franchise’s success in supernatural comedy films has remained unwavering.
Overtime, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire made another $15.7 million at the box office, a modest 65% drop between weekends, which brings its total to $73.4 million. In addition Frozen Empire was featured in 27 new markets this weekend and in its holdover locations, leading to the film dropping 38% from its debut weekend.
The Haunting Legacy of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
During the return to Ghostbusters, fans seemed to notice that the director, Gil Kenan, introduced scenes that hadn’t been thought of since the main series back in 1989! How amazing is that?! They also brought back the original Ghostbusters team to where it all started, in NYC full of excitement and adventure. However, as fans embraced the new version of Ghostbusters, certain cast members have become fan favorites who you all know and love: Bill Murray, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, McKenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard.
As there were many opinions, we could all agree Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was a success. Many fans truly admire the addition of bringing back horror, leaping fans out of their seats from wanting more. During the scenes of the movie the creative director really dive into the themes including fears of death and what it truly means to be a ghost.
