Neve Campbell revealed in a recent interview that Scream 7 will focus on her character from the horror franchise, Sidney Prescott. While speaking to ET‘s Rachel Smith, Campbell expressed that the seventh Scream installment will explore Sidney Prescott’s life, similar to Jamie Lee Curtis’ character in the 2018 Holloween film.
“We are going to follow Sidney,” Campbell told ET. They pitched the concept to me, so I jumped on board.”
Elsewhere, Campbell spoke about her love for the Scream series and her gratitude for participating in them.
“I love these movies,” Campbell said to ET. They are so much fun to be a part of, and I’m so grateful for them. I could never have imagined being a part of a movie that would have lasted this many decades.”
Campbell last got involved in a Scream film in 2022. She starred alongside Courtney Cox and David Arquette, who reprised their respective roles. The actress didn’t act in 2023’s Scream VI due to a disagreement between herself and Paramount Pictures. The Scream team and Campbell finally found a resolution about her starring in Scream 7 following Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega’s departure from the franchise.
So far, details about the upcoming Scream movie have been kept under wraps. However, Scream writer Kevin Williamson will serve as the director. Production will begin sometime in December 2024.
