In celebration of the two-year anniversary of her album, When I Get Home, Solange has released a remastered director’s cut version of her short film When I Get Home. The album marked her fourth full length studio album. The 19-track album was a follow-up to her 2016 album, A Seat at the Table, and it honors her hometown, Houston, Texas.
Solange directed the short film herself. Solange began the release of this short film by teasing her fans with visuals and images that she dropped on the social-media platform, Black Planet. The short film was originally presented as an, “album experience,” and hosted in Museums and Contemporary Art Installations around the world. This remastered cut was added to the Criterion Channel as a new release on March 1, 2021 and is available now to view.
The Criterion Channel is a streaming service that offers classic and contemporary films. The films on the channel are constantly refreshed. Much like other streaming services, the platform offers fee-based subscriptions in order to view their films. This release is a pleasant surprise that came just in time to celebrate Women’s History Month.
