It’s that time of year again, when the weather warms, sunscreen smells surround us, and the collective fear of the ocean’s infamous predator, the shark, grips the movie-loving world. With the release of the trailer for “Something in the Water“, directed by Hayley Easton Street, the wave of anticipation is building bigger and bigger. This summer, as the tide rolls in, it brings with it a new wave of shark cinema that promises to both horrify and attract audiences.
Riding the Wave of Tradition
As we know, Shark scare films focus on the connection between our fear and fascination. There is always a story to be told about the vast and uncharted oceans, as well as the species who are as much a part of the earth’s past as they are of its present. Something in the Water trailer teases the promise of a fresh story, while sticking to the original.
