As movie theaters have opened their doors after a long hiatus and moviegoers are once again able to enjoy their favorite pastime, Hollywood is hard at work like never before. Eager to fulfill the demands of consumers around the world craving a trip to the movies, production companies have been churning out content at a steadfast pace that only further exemplifies the rapidity with which society moves today. A myriad of exciting new pictures have been released this year from the horror film Malignant to the recently released Wes Anderson film The French Dispatch, however one studio has their sights set on the future. Sony Pictures announced this week plans for two new Marvel projects that are sure to excite fans, however they’ll have to remain patient as they aren’t slated to release until 2023.
The Marvel universe is constantly expanding, with an array of new projects released throughout the pandemic that included both Disney+ series and new films. Now Sony Pictures will be doing their part to help expand it even further with two new Marvel projects that they have announced they are producing. Many have already begun speculating what either of these projects could be, however much of the discussion surrounds the Venmo franchise and a potential crossover with the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man franchise. The Sony Pictures Marvel universe and the Disney Marvel universe are distinctly different entities in the world of film, however this project could be what finally unites the two in a big way. Whatever the end result may be however, fans are going to have to remain patient as neither project is slated to release until 2023.
