The Stephen King-approved thriller Strange Darling has impressed film critics ahead of its release. Rotten Tomatoes has given the movie a 100% rating before its premiere in theaters on August 23. After screening the movie early, King went to X to rave about it.
“I got an advance screener of Strange Darling, and it’s really terrific,” King tweeted. “I’ll try to attach the trailer here because it’s also a clever masterpiece. I can’t say more; watch the film, and you’ll understand what the trailer is up to. I wish I could say more about Strange Darling, but it’s one of those films that’s too clever to spoil, so best to say nothing.”
In the last trailer, Willa Fitzgerald’s character is spotted in the forest, keeping quiet, as she’s trying to hide from the gun-toting serial killer, played by Kyle Gallner. She uses alcohol to treat a wound, emphasizing the chilling moment.
Strange Darling is helmed by writer-director JT Mollner. The movie is led by Scream stars Kyle Gallner and Willa Fitzgerald. The plot thickens in Strange Darling as an intended one-night stand turns into a twisted serial killer realm. Fitzgerald’s character finds herself being tracked down by a killer she experienced a short fling with. The movie is “nothing is what it seems” as the actress’s character attempts to break free from him. Strange Darling is co-produced between Miramax and Spooky Picture Productions.
