The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence will shoot the new Stephen King film The Long Walk in July 2024. Lawrence is clearly the right choice as he helped major films come to life like I Am Legend, Constantine and more. This movie has been in the making for many years but has never been finished.
The Long Walk has been talked about since the 1980s. So why is it a priority now? Well, New Line Cinema acquired the rights to the book and started looking for the top directors to make the magic happen.
In November of 2023, Lawrence was chosen in an effort to move The Long Walk film in the right direction. The movie is set to be released by early 2025 but no definite date has been revealed yet.
The Long Walk is about 100 teenage boys that walk without rest. Each walker is supposed to stay above 4 miles an hour. If a walker drops below the 4 miles radius, they’ll be shot to death. The motivation for the walkers is to be last one surviving to win large sums of money.
