Terror Takes Root As ‘Clown in a Cornfield’ Slashes Its Way To The Big Screen

The fields of fear are in full bloom as Adam Cesare’s chilling young adult slasher novel, Clown in a Cornfield, makes its blood-soaked leap to the big screen. RLJE Films and Shudder have just unleashed the official trailer, teasing a blend of small-town paranoia, relentless horror, and twisted fun.

Directed by Eli Craig of Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, the film is set to slash its way into theaters on May 9th, 2025. With Craig at the helm, audiences can expect a wild mix of horror, action, and dark comedy, promising a terrifyingly good time.

A Small Town With Big Secrets… And A Killer Clown

Starring Katie Douglas from Ginny & Georgia, Carson MacCormac of Shazam!, Aaron Abrams (Hannibal), Will Sasso (The Three Stooges), and Abigail‘s Kevin Durand, the film follows Quinn and her father as they move to Kettle Springs, a seemingly quiet town hiding sinister secrets.

Kettle Springs is on the brink of collapse after the devastating loss of its beloved Baypen Corn Syrup Factory, leaving the once-thriving community divided and boiling with tension. But when an ominous grinning figure emerges from the cornfields, the town’s troubles turn to pure terror.

Frendo the Clown isn’t here for laughs though. In fact, he’s here to cleanse the town, one gruesome victim at a time. And in Kettle Springs, survival means facing the horror head-on.

A Thrill Ride Of Horror, Action, And Dark Comedy

Described as a “harrowing, savage, heart-pounding adaptation”, Clown in a Cornfield embraces the relentless energy and slasher spirit of Cesare’s bestselling novel. Director Eli Craig promises:

“An insanely fun, action, horror, comedy.”

The screenplay, adapted by Carter Blanchard and Eli Craig, marks the first film in what could become an entire cinematic saga, as Clown in a Cornfield is just the beginning of a terrifying trilogy. The latest book, The Church of Frendo, dropped last year, with a fourth installment already on the way.

Will You Survive Kettle Springs?

As Clown in a Cornfield prepares to unleash pure mayhem in theaters, horror fans can expect gory kills, relentless tension, and a slasher villain destined for cult status. Buckle up—because once Frendo comes out to play, the real fun begins. If you haven’t already, mark your calendars. Clown in a Cornfield hits theaters on May 9th, 2025.
