‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ Trailer Unleashes The Warrens’ Most Terrifying Case Yet

The final haunting begins…

The end is near and it’s more chilling than ever. Warner Bros. has officially unveiled the trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites, the fourth and final chapter in the mainline Conjuring saga, set to arrive in IMAX theaters September 5th. But don’t be fooled. While this may mark the Warrens’ final case, the ever-expanding Conjuring Universe isn’t done with us yet.

Returning to their roles as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga step into what may be their darkest and most personal battle against the supernatural yet. The infamous 1986 Smurl haunting, a case involving a Pennsylvania family tormented by an unrelenting demonic presence for over a decade.

“Every case is different. Every family is different. Once we start, there is no going back,” warns Ed Warren in the trailer.

Lorraine, more shaken than ever, forebodingly adds, “Something’s different”.

That “something” becomes horrifyingly clear by the trailer’s end, when a demonic force taunts Lorraine: “We’ve been waiting so patiently… for you,” before violently lunging at her. It’s a terrifying glimpse into what promises to be the most emotionally pulling and naturally haunting installment of the series.

The Masterminds Behind The Forthcoming Film

Directed by franchise veteran Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Curse of La Llorona, The Nun II), and executive produced by Conjuring mastermind James Wan, Last Rites blends signature supernatural dread with a tone of finality — a spiritual swan song for the couple who brought ghost hunting to the mainstream.

The film’s screenplay is penned by genre heavyweights Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and longtime Conjuring writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The cast expands with rising stars Mia Tomlinson of The Beast Must Die and Ben Hardy from Bohemian Rhapsody, injecting fresh fear into a saga that’s already terrified millions.
