It’s been 3 years since Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino released an album. He announced mid-2018 that he would be retiring the moniker after his final album. The thing is, he hasn’t released it yet or announced anything about it. A two-track EP called “Summer Pack” was released last July. Glover has still yet to follow up his critically acclaimed 2016 LP ‘” Awaken, My Love!”‘ with a full album, but he did sign a deal with RCA back in January 2018. As his recent tour came to a close, he said that he might continue performing under the name.
It now looks like those tour dates may not be the curtain call for Gambino after all. Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Glover — who donned a lion costume for the interview — hinted that he will still continue to perform as Childish Gambino in the future. “I think I’m still going to do shows. I’m not quite sure,” Glover said. “I broke my foot so I had to make up for those [rescheduled Australian shows]. But I really love making music.”
His next performance will be at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 4-6 and October 11-13.
