This cinematic adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway musical, which has enjoyed both critical acclaim and commercial success and aims to compete for the Oscars, also received two more awards from the organization. The NBR’s awards are determined by a diverse group of film lovers, industry professionals, scholars, and students.
Jon M. Chu of Wicked was honored as best director by the NBR, while stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were recognized with a special spotlight award for their “creative collaboration.”
