Wyclef Jean has announced a partnership with California-based cannabis producer Cali Life for his new “BOOM BAP” cannabis collection, which will include dried flower, flavored distillates and kief-laced pre-rolls.
The former Fugee said he hopes the brand will provide employment and one day allow him to stimulate the economy in his former home country of Haiti. “Experiencing the American dream as an immigrant and son of a preacher who was also a farmer has inspired me to become a social entrepreneur,” Jean told Rolling Stone.
“I am glad I waited to partner up with Cali Life. Not only will we bring more jobs, which I am excited about, I am also hopeful that maybe my native land and the parliament will someday pass legislation so Haiti can grow and export cannabis. For now, just be clear, whenever you see that BOOMBAP Kush, you know it’s me!”
Cali Life is “comprised of rock ‘n’ roll royalty and those who have served the music industry for decades, each of whom has a unique story related to cannabis,” and for whom cannabis “has been an integral part of their lives,” notes the company’s website.
To mark the beginning of the cannabis collab, Jean will performat WEEDCon Hollywood Expo alongside other guest artists, including Doors guitarist Robby Krieger.
The event also features dozens of vendors and an awards ceremony judged by David Crosby of classic rock groups such as the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
