The actor we’ve seen in Aquaman, The Get Down, Us and HBO hit series Watchmen – Yahya Abdul-Manteen II is now taking on a lead role in the Matrix 4. Manteen will be joining franchise stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss for the upcoming film directed by Lana Wachowski.
Though details on Yahya’s character or even the plot of the film remains under wraps, production is scheduled to carry out early 2020 so we can keep eyes and ears out for teasers and talk regarding what’s to come in the new year.
According to a poll hosted by Coming Soon readers were asked if they were interested in seeing more movies in the Matrix Revolution. 69% of those voting saying “Yes!” In a secondary poll, 58% said they wanted to see a continuation of the series. Looks like they’ll be getting what they wanted!
The original Matrix debuted 20 years ago in 1999 bringing in $463 million with only a $63 million budget. Followed by two more sequels The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolution – six months after the first sequel. Those 3 movies combined made the franchise $1.6 billion at global box office and since has maintained the money making with video games, tee’s, anime’s and comics.
The coming Matrix 4 is co-written between Lana Wachowski, Alexander Hemon and David Mitchel who is also in the directors chair. Date of release remains TBA.
